Greetings, friends of the TRB Health and Transportation Subcommittee (ADD50-01),
Be sure to attend the TRB Health and Transportation Subcommittee Meeting, Monday, January 13, 5:45-7:15 p.m.! We've set aside time for a round robin for Friends of the Subcommittee to share their areas of interest, what they'd like to get out of the Subcommittee and any other information they think will advance the Subcommittee's goals and enhance other Friends' awareness of important developments in the areas of health and transportation. Bring your thoughts, handouts or any materials you'd like to share, either spoken or for people to take away after the meeting ends. Take a look at the meeting details below, and please visit our other sessions and workshops as well!In other news, in May 2013, Ed Christopher and Eloisa Raynault were honored to write an article on the intersection between public health and transportation for Public Roads Magazine. Public Roads is published bimonthly by the Federal Highway Administration. Distributed far and wide in transportation circles, Public Roads is the easiest way to keep up-to-date on developments in federal highway policies, programs, and research and technology. More specifically, the magazine covers advances and innovations in highway/traffic research and technology, critical national transportation issues, important activities and achievements of FHWA and others in the highway community, specific FHWA program areas, and subjects of interest to highway industry professionals. Needless to say, getting Public Health in front of the Public Roads audience was important to the community at large. The article was titled “How Does Transportation Affect Public Health?”; to read the article, visit http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/publications/publicroads/13mayjun/05.cfm
As we do for each TRB Annual Meeting, the Subcommittee prepares a list of "hot picks" that a group of volunteers has selected as being of special interest or relevance for our Subcommittee friends.
