TRB 2012 Call for Papers on Health and Transportation (now closed)

Co-sponsoring Committees: Transportation and Sustainability (ADD40), Environmental Justice in Transportation (ADD50), and Travel Behavior and Values (ADB10)

The Health and Transportation Subcommittee seeks research papers and poster presentations on any and all aspects of the connections between health and transportation.


The aim of this call for papers is to expand and improve current understanding and evaluation of the health impacts of federal, state, regional and local transportation policies, procedures and actions. Papers may encompass wide-ranging impacts and issues related to health; these include but are not limited to:

    • sustainable and active transportation modes (e.g., walking, biking, transit),
    • health data analysis and data needs,
    • mobility,
    • accessibility,
    • safety,
    • freight and aviation impacts,
    • transportation-related air pollution and noise impacts,
    • health impact assessments (HIAs) and other health metrics.

Papers for publication and/or presentation must be submitted before August 1, 2011.

Submission of complete papers, conforming to TRB standards and format, is required for consideration. Papers may be submitted for presentation only. Each paper will be peer-reviewed
according to TRB procedures. TRB paper specifications are found online ( At the bottom of the TRB paper submission form, please indicate this call for papers and review by the Health and Transportation Subcommittee (ADD50-01). Be sure to include this Subcommittee name and number with the paper submission.
